On Monday, January 25, 2021, San Angelo ISD students in 5th and 8th grade will begin planning their transitions from elementary to middle school and middle school to high school respectively.
5th grade students will learn more about opportunities awaiting them in middle school, and then work with their principal and teachers to complete a Google Form to indicate their individual class preferences for 6th grade. Students will bring home a course verification form for parents/guardians to review over the next few weeks. Parents/guardians will be able to make comments and/or request changes. All course verification forms will be due back to the elementary campus no later than Wednesday, February 3, 2021. (Our SAISD Curriculum and Instruction Elementary team will work with our Digital Support Teachers to complete this process with our current Virtual Academy elementary students via Zoom.)
8th grade students will engage in a week-long unit of transition planning to help them be better prepared for high school. Students will work with their middle school counselor and Career Pathways or Leadworthy teacher to learn about the important parts of planning for high school including graduation requirements and developing a custom four-year plan. Students will bring home a four-year plan document for parents/guardians to review with their student over the next few weeks. Parents/guardians will be able to make comments and/or request changes. All four-year plan documents will be due back to the middle school campus at a later date that will be communicated by the campus. (Virtual Academy high school students will work with their middle school counselors to complete these activities via Zoom.)
We want to make each student’s transition as smooth as possible. You can learn more about the transition process by clicking the appropriate links below.
